Christmas is just a month away, common people we gotta start a few preparations. JuJups.com has come up with a 3D printing service which can print any design that you like or you have made in 3D. In short they get your design to life. They have come up with something special for Christmas too! You can create 3D figurines of yourself and your loved ones as Angels, Santas, and Elves using the latest in 3D printing technology. Sounds cool isn’t it? Yeah! Certainly!

This service is being launched in the United States and Europe this Christmas through DIY design portal JuJups.com. The products are printed in Boston for the US and in Denmark for Europe, using ZCorp’s 3D printing machines. So this Christmas you can flaunt your Christmas tree with Santas, Elves and Angels resembling yourself.

Check out the below video to see the 3D printing machine in action:

As I said earlier in my previous solar powered gadget (solar charger) post, nowadays solar powered gadgets are increasing their share with other ordinary gadgets to a great extent. We all have seen several robots but I bet you haven’t seen a solar powered robot that looks like an octopus. Well, here it is- the Cthulhu. Weird name and so is the robot. The robot uses solar energy to make its movement. It has a small vibrating motor attached to a solar engine and solar cell. When there’s enough solar power stored in the cell it wobbles ominously on his many spindly legs.

The robots tentacles look kinda scary. Well, since it uses stored energy it can also work in the dark. Now you know why I call is scary! If you liked this one and would like to buy one then head over to Etsy Tiny Minds shop. There was just one piece and it was sold but you place an order so that another one is made. It’s available for $80. Hmm… Is it expensive for a solar powered tentacle machine?

Did it ever happen that you were invited for a dinner but you didn’t want to get your best black trousers and your work shirt out again? Hmmm maybe you’re like me who doesn’t want to go out in formals. But unfortunately we can’t manage with funky jeans and t-shirts for a dinner party, after all it’s difficult to convince people that jeans and t-shirt are enough, ain’t I right?

Looks like there’s a perfect solution for this problem. Napkins have come to our rescue! No! you don’t wear them instead of clothes but they have a tie on them which will transform you into a proper gentleman! All you need to do is just carry it with you while you’re going for a dinner and then simply open it and tuck it in your t-shirt. There are four different designs, you can spend a bit of time before dinner making sure you’re got just the right look! I’m sure you liked them, if you’re interested in them you can get one from drinkstuff for just £3.99.

I’m sure most of you have watched Ironman movie by now. Well, if you haven’t then you are missing a great blockbuster. I love gadgets and hence Iron Man was one of my preferred characters since my childhood because it was a complete package of his incredible arsenal of weapons from repulsor beams to gigantic cannon which accompanied the execution of some complex combo moves. In addition to this there’s the sexy red and gold suit of armor with some fabulous array of weapons. But unfortunately Ironman wasn’t as popular as other characters like Spiderman, Batman, etc.

I watched the movie nearly ten times I guess. I was just trying to go deep into the character and the look which Ironman possessed. So when I was searching over the web for iron man gadgets I came across many. I would like to share them with you. I’m sure your kid might find them useful if he’s gonna act as Ironman for a play, competition or just for time pass. Or you yourselves might consider being ironman. Oh well, so here they are:

1.	Arc Reactor:
The arc reactor is the source of power for the Ironman. It’s extremely efficient power supply that generates vast amounts of power without consuming typical fuel or producing significant waste heat. You might have seen it glowing on the chest of Ironman. I found a tutorial on instructables which guides you to create your own arc reactor. Well, it’s obvious that it won’t generate energy like the one did in the movie but certainly it does look and glow like an arc reactor.

Oh boy! Check out this guy, he’s a diehard ironman fan!

2.	Repulsor-like LED flashlight:
The most defining ability of Stark’s armor are the repulsors situated in the gloves. They originated as a hand attachment, but have since become standard armament. They have been referred to as being magnetic, a blast of charged particles, and as a force beam. You might have seen them in the movie when Tony stark first invents them and practices in his personal lab.

Just like the arc reactor tutorial I found a repulsor tutorial too. Well, don’t worry you won’t destroy objects like Ironman did, it’s just a flashlight on your palm which looks pretty much like the repulsor.

How about real repulsor rays???
Well, to do what Iron Man does with those repulsor rays would take the total output of a nuclear power plant, so let’s settle for the effect of sparks coming from our fingers. Just look at the guy in the picture below, he goofs around with Tesla coils, making sparks fly at will. He even does one crazy trick involving himself standing in a swimming pool. On second thought, our Iron Man can do such stuff with absolutely no probs whatsoever.

3.	Iron man suit:
As I mentioned earlier the ironman suit is damn sexy, a perfect blend of red and gold armor. Well, just like the above we got few tutorials on making the iron man suit too. There’s one that explains making a suit with the help of Bondo. Bondo is kinda dangerous so try it out at your own risk. Or you may consider the easy way of getting a readymade suit not of steel but of cloth.

4.	Ironman LG phone:
Well, this phone’s certainly not used in the movie but has the red and gold colored look which matches ironmans suit. This phone’s worth $2000 and the gold is 18k gold plated. Wow! Certainly not cheap! Sadly, it isn’t available in market even if you wanted to buy one, it was actually offered as a gift by LG when the movie was released.

5. LEGO Iron Man:
Well, this is not connected with making of your suit but you might like to have a look at this one if you’re an ironman freak. It was designed by Arvo Brothers- a pair of extremely talented LEGO modelers.

I was checking out for some cool online web services through which you can modify your photos by adding celebrities beside them or maybe by making them look like posters on walls, or maybe make them look like sculptures, tattoos, etc. To my surprise I came across an article mentioning a service known as PhotoFunia which does something more than I thought.

PhotoFunia has a face recognition technology which makes it easier to identify faces even if the photo is too big or too small. Hmmm, sound great isn’t it? Yeah! There’s absolutely no need to struggle using Photoshop. There are a set of patterns which you can use to add your photos. You can select the pattern which you like the most and upload your pic to appear in it. It will take few seconds to the job and you’ll be stunned by the output. You can save the image to your desktop or even upload it to imageshack. Check out for some stuff above that I created using PhotoFunia.

Windows 7 is the latest buzz these days. The new operating system by Microsoft will be the successor of Windows Vista. Microsoft has also confirmed the name of the new operating system will be Windows 7 itself. But unfortunately Microsoft hasn’t revealed any detailed information regarding the features of Windows 7. However, here are some of the features which you will see introduced with Windows 7:

Changes to UAC:
You won’t see the crappy UAC that you saw in Vista. The UAC in Windows 7 will be less chatty than its precursor in Vista, while at the same time being a lot less confusing. The tests Microsoft conducted with the Windows 7 User Account Control indicated that 83% of respondents understood the information presented to them in the dialog box. Windows 7 will introduce a control panel setting which provides a ‘slider’ and 4 different settings for the UAC, essentially ‘most annoying’ to ‘least annoying’.

Overall changes:
You’ll see changes to the GUI and various security improvements. Windows 7 is basically an improvised version of Vista features. So all the flaws, bugs, cons of Vista will be rectified.

Applications and UI Updated:
You’ll find that applications like Paint, WordPad , Calculator and Windows Media Player look entirely different from the previous operating systems. You might have already seen the calculator over the net. Paint has improved to a great extent. Well, let’s see how its gonna be.

Virtual Drives:
Virtual drive feature will be added as indicated by Long Zheng. If added, this is certainly a great feature as virtual drives are essential. Loading images will be as easy, you can easily load games if you have image backups. This will save your discs.

Virtual Desktops
Virtual Desktop is the term commonly used to describe a popular way to organize the open windows in your desktop. We might see Virtual Desktops in Windows 7.

Sensors:
Support for contextually aware applications which can detect the location of you and your device.

Windows Credentials:
This feature will enable you to store logins and registration details for any server, website or program. Windows will be able to log you in automatically anywhere with the saved login info.

Customizable Installation:
Bundled Windows application are being removed and replaced with downloadable Windows Live services including Movie Maker, Mail, Photo Gallery, Writer and Parental Controls. There will also be the introduction of a system to control which applications are installed and which aren’t.

Multi-Touch:
Check out the below video and know for yourselves.
Click here to view the embedded video.

Themes:
Unfortunately, there won’t be any custom visual styles like in Vista and XP. But you can create themes like you did in Windows 95 and 98, i.e, saving the background, sound scheme and colors.

Windows Solution Center:
It’s basically an improved Security Center, but with an improved UI and access to all system maintenance and troubleshooting tools.

Home Group Networking:
Easy home networking for sharing files and media. This feature was a Longhorn concept; it didn’t make into Vista but will be seen in Windows 7.

Taskbar Improvements:
The taskbar is higher than usual, probably 1.75x as high as the normal taskbar
The Windows orb still sticks the upper part out of the taskbar
The taskbar is divided into different colored sections
The system tray is not touching the edge of the screen
Two lines for the date and icons in the middle of the taskbar
Larger Quick Launch icons

Improved Games Explorer:
Game explorer is improved. You’ll now be able to update games from the explorer itself.

Windows Mobile Device Center:
Windows Mobile Device Center to be included in Windows 7.

[via-ghacks]

Is your reading speed slow? Don’t worry, you can improve it using few softwares and online services. So how do these s work? They use a reading technique known as Speed Reading. Speed reading is the act of quickly absorbing written information. The goal is to read quickly but still retain comprehension of the material. There’s a competition known as World Championship Speed Reading Competition in which various readers compete. It says that its top competitors average around 1000 to 2000 words a minute! Oh boy! That’s a lot; I doubt I can even make it to 300. Well, reading 1000 words a minute but only understanding 10% of the text would not be effective while a comprehension level of 50% or more could very well be.

Here are a few softwares and web services which will help you to improve your reading speed:

SpeedRead:
SpeedRead can read any text file and display the words sequentially. The user can adjust the rate at which words are displayed, the number of words displayed at a time, and the minimum number of letters to qualify a word. A performance counter clocks the actual number of words displayed, the total time and time between word groups.

It concentrates on four main techniques:

Reading groups of words instead of single words
Learning to “absorb” small connector words like “and, the, but, to, etc”.
Forcing constant attention on subject matter.
User or teacher adjustable rate of speed for word or word group presentation

Download SpeedRead

Zap Reader:
Zap Reader is a basic online version of Speed Read. You can paste text into Zap Reader which displays one word at a time at the default speed of 300 words per minute. You can also change the speed and the word limit.

Back Word Reading Practice:
Back word reading practice is another web based service which reverses each and every word in the text. For instance ‘Bizzntech’ becomes ‘hcetnzziB’. Reading isn’t easy when words are reversed. Try it out for yourself.

Reading without Short Words and Full Stops:
It’s another online service which allows you to read a para after removing short words and full stops. This method actually helps the reader to understand the text deeply, usually while reading people don’t read the word by letters, but recognize it wholly. Since the words are mixed your reading speed increases but on the other hand you don’t understand their meaning, it’s pretty challenging, definitely worth a try.

Spreeder:
Spreeder is an alternative for Zap Reader. It’s pretty fast as it uses javascript and is easy to use as well.

Bathroom singers are you’ll listening? Well, here’s something of your interest. It’s a tap with a FM Radio! If you look at the tap you might find it pretty ordinary. Well, don’t forget that looks can be deceiving! The tap can be mounted on any bathroom slab. It’s water proof too despite of having a radio within it, you don’t have worry about water splashes.

The FM Radio tap has fairly intuitive controls. For instance, to turn the radio on or to turn up the volume, simply turn the tap handle clockwise and anti clockwise to reduce the volume and for switching it off. If you want to change the station, just press the button. Pretty simple isn’t it?

The tap is sure to get some visitors in your bathroom. If you liked it you can get one for under $20.

iPhone 3G has already hit many countries across the world. The iPhone 3G 8GB in US is priced at $199 and 16GB version at $299. That’s a sweet deal isn’t it? But looks like it won’t be the same in every country. We can take India as the best example. Well, iPhone hasn’t arrived in India yet. But the estimated price is way too much. It’s whopping Rs31000! ($740) for the 8GB edition and the thing that shocked me even more was that the price was exclusive of rental plans. The 16GB version will cost between Rs36,000 – Rs37,000 ($850).

In a statement, Bharti said that millions of Airtel subscribers will be able to purchase the iPhone at Airtel’s Relationship Centres from August 22. Oh boy! Give me a break. The pricing is utter nonsense. I wonder why would people even buy at that rate when it’s available for less than $200 in grey market.

Mygazines is a website which allows users to read and share different magazines online. You can find various kinds of magazines on this site, any magazine for that matter, tech, sports, business, etc. All you need to do is just enter the magazine name in the search bar and a big list of magazines will appear. You can choose the one you like and read it online. You don’t need to register in order to read articles and magazines and the best part is that this service is absolutely free. Well, if you want to upload new mags you’ll need to create an account.

To turn pages you can simply click on the navigation button on the side. You can also use keyboard to turn pages. You can also read adult magazines but you need to change the family filter option which is enabled by default. To disable the option you need to create an account. Now don’t tell me that you’re lazy to create an account, after all registering doesn’t take time. Try out some magazines on Mygazines, they are pretty cool.

I was looking over the web for few good torrent search engines and I came across one known as Speckly. Speckly is a simple search engine but the search results are just fabulous. It’s pretty fast and effective. The search result page looks pretty much like Google search engine result page. Speckly searches popular sites like MiniNova, isoHunt, Piratebay, LegitTorrents, SeedPeer, etc.

Searching torrents using Speckly is pretty easy. All you need to do is just enter the stuff you want, for instance HD wallpapers. You’ll arrive at a page with several results. Each result is categorized, has a list of seeders and leechers (displayed as full and partial sources), and the name of the indexing site. The results are pretty accurate, I tried clicking on different links to check if the info in the results was right and it was. It’s a pretty reliable torrent search engine. Don’t forget to give a try.

Here’s an awesome pc concept known as E-Ball designed by Apostol Tnokovski. Looks like he just said “balls” to current generation pcs. As you can see in the below pic, the E-Ball pc is a spherical PC concept. It stands on legs that emerge from its underside and is just 6 inches in diameter. It features a projected display screen and keyboard. Wait a sec! What about the mouse? Well, you don’t need to worry about the mouse, there’s an optical mouse attached to E-Ball which can be detached for use. So, if you carry this ball you don’t really need to carry a keyboard, monitor and a mouse. Oh boy! That sounds like a portable desktop. Isn’t it?

Now you might be wondering about the hardware present in it. I guess it might use laptop components due to the space restraints. Even if this pc is seen in reality I don’t think people will like the optical keyboard. Why? Well, the reason is simple. You gotta bang your fingertips on a desk for any length of time. And if you’re typing a long article you certainly won’t like it. And as far as the rest of the things go, it looks pretty good.
