No Lock

No Lock is a free app that is intended for preventing the lockscreen from appearing on your phone. In short it disables the lock screen. To unlock your phone, you need to simply click on the lock icon. That’s it! One touch and you have unlocked your phone.

Apart from this interesting feature, this app also allows you to set the unlock function on the volume buttons instead of the power button.

WidgetLocker Lockscreen

WidgetLocker Lockscreen is a paid app and includes some amazing features. You can customize the entire lockscreen with this great app. You can place the sliders wherever you want, change the functions of the sliders, move widgets according to your wish, change the size of widgets, etc.

With this app, you can also set the phone to wake up when you press the volume buttons.

Points before you move further:
1. Your device should be jailbroken.
2. You need to have Winterboard and Lockscreen Clock Hide installed via Cydia. Lockscreen Clock Hide disables the clock on the lockscreen.
3. You need to have iPhone Explorer installed on your computer to browse files and folders on your iPhone.

iPhone 4 Lockscreens

Typophone 4 Lockscreen
The Typophone 4 lockscreen displays time and date in large fonts. Also, the traditional lock slider has been replaced with a simple yet attractive one. You can download the theme from Cydia and activate it via Winterboard.

Frost Lockscreen

Sopa Lockscreen
Sopa Lockscreen features a round clock which is something different from the other ones. Hope you like it.

LS Nimbus Lockscreen
Download the theme from here and unzip it on your desktop.
Open the file “LockBackground.html” with notepad. Search for “var locale” and change the place name according to your choice. For instance, you’re in London, just type “London, United Kingdom”. This will display the weather information from the location you mentioned. Save the file and exit.
Now, open iPhone explorer and drag the entire extracted folder into “Root/Library/Themes”.
Disconnect the phone once done, Launch Winterboard on your phone and activate the theme.

Slanting Lockscreen
This one’s unique and attractive! It also displays the weather condition. Before you download the theme from Cydia, you need to install “file:// for MobileSafari” from Cydia. Next, install the theme via Cydia. Now, go to Safari and enter the following path:
file:///Library/Themes/SlantedLock.theme/config.html
Configure the settings according to your choice, exit Safari and then activate the theme in Winterboard.

Uncluttered HD
For this theme you also need to install Unlock Killer

LS Angelic
For installation, read installation instructions inside the folder after extracting it. It’s similar to the previous ones.

Cowon Lockscreen
There’s a version for the iPad as well. Have a look at the developers page.

Android Lockscreen
You can get it from Cydia and then activate it in Winterboard.

Simplicity
The slider, wallpaper and the fonts are not included in the theme. You can get a similar slider from Cydia. Search for “Clear Lockscreen iOS 4″ (ModMyi repo).

LS Colour Stripes
There are two custom sliders available with this theme- tap to unlock and slide to unlock.

If you have a jailbroken iPhone 4, you can use a tool known as UndeleteSMS that can be downloaded via Cydia. It scans the history for deleted records and it attempts to recover them. The recovered iPhone text messages are displayed in plain text. This is a pretty handy tool but it only recovers deleted data which hasn’t been overwritten by new data. If you use the app on a regular basis you don’t need to wait till the last minute until you are helpless as the data is overwritten. You can purchase UndeleteSMS from the Cydia store for $6.99, under the BigBoss repository.

How to Reset Kaspersky Internet Security (KIS) 2011 Trial

Download and install Kaspersky Internet Security 2011. Activate using trial license. You can use the trial license for 30 days. After it expires, you can extend the trial license. There are two ways how you can do this:

a. By using registry keys:

Disable Kaspersky Self-Defense by going to Settings> Advanced Settings. Click Apply and OK to save settings.

Exit Kaspersky.

Download the registry file from here- (32bit/ 64bit) depending upon the software. This will reset the trial period.

Double click the registry file and click ‘Yes’ when you get a pop up.

Now start KIS 2011 and Activate the Trial License.

b. Using KIS 2011 Trial Resetter:

Again for this method you need to first disable Self defense by going to Settings and click on the box option to go to advanced settings.

On the left hand side you should see Self Defense. Click on it and on the right side uncheck ‘Enable Self-Defense’
Click Apply and Ok. Exit Kaspersky.

Download KIS 2011 reset tool and run it.

Click on the Reset Kaspersky button. That’s it! Now, you may activate a new trial license.

NOTE: This Resetter works for all Kaspersky 2010 and 2011 products.

If you are an XP user you may still consider having a compatibility pack installed in order to open, view and edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents. The compatibility pack will also install fonts from Windows 7 in XP. This will allow you to use Windows 7 fonts in Windows XP without the hassle of downloading them separately.

Installing the Compatibility Pack:

Double click the FileFormatConverters.exe t o launch the setup.
Follow the on screen instructions and complete the installation.
That’s it! Now, you should be able to open new document extensions in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and also use new fonts in XP.

I came across a software known as Browser Cleaner that helps you to clean browsing history of several browsers in one shot. I use three web browsers at the moment- Chrome, Firefox and Opera. I came across a software- RunWithAffinity that actually makes a program to run on a single core. Now you might be wondering why would anyone do this. Well, the answer is simple. If a program is assigned to run on a single core then it will run slow but this also means that the other cores are idol. The program won’t use all your system’s CPU time. This will help to manage background and foreground processes with ease. So, in short it uses the disadvantage as an advantage.

For instance, if you have a large number of background processes that are running on your system, then you could allocate them to run on a single core, say Core 1. The other cores will remain free to run more important foreground applications.

This software is also helpful if you aren’t able to start some old game as it cannot make use of all cores then you can use this software to force the game to run on a single core.

I had previously written on a post regarding Geohot’s Limera1n which jailbreaks iPhone 4 OS 4.1. Well, I was eagerly waiting for the release of this tool. And, as soon as it released yesterday, I jailbroke my iPhone 4. Well, it’s pretty easy, you too can do it with ease. Here’s how you do it:

Firstly, download Limra1n. Double click on it to launch it.

Now click on Make it ra1n.

The phone will now enter into recovery mode.

Now, you’ll be promoted to hold the Power and the Home button simultaneously.

Next, you need to release the Power button when prompted.

The phone will now enter into DFU mode.

Once, the jailbreak is done, you’ll see a message saying Done.

Also, you’ll see the above message. Wait for the device to turn off. Once done, remove the cable and turn it on.

You’ll notice a new Limera1n app among your other apps. Simply click on it to launch it. Now, install Cydia and reboot. Voila! You have now successfully jailbroken your iPhone.

Limera1n app not launching after Jailbreak?

Sometimes when you have jailbroken the iPhone, you’ll see a blank limera1n icon and when you try to launch it, it won’t start. In such a case do the following:

Jailbreak your device as mentioned above.

Next, go to iTunes and restore your firmware to 4.1 by holding on the shift button and clicking on the restore button.

Now, it should work fine. Try running the app and install Cydia. Once done, restore your iPhone Backup.
