There may be several reasons for an iPod to run slow. iPod runs slow usually if you have lots of apps, photos, music collection, browser cache and history, emails, etc. Apart from these there may be several other reasons as well.
So, the question arises ‘How to fix an iPod running slow?’ Here are a few simple things that you may like to try out in order to fix a slow iPod:
Firstly, clear the internet browsing history and cache. The Safari browser in my iPhone had slowed down extremely and I could hardly scroll, I tried this and it really worked so the same thing should work in an iPod too.
Next, download MemTool app from Cydia. It’s a small app that allows you to kill processes and free up memory which in turn speeds up your iPod. Once installed, click on the ‘Clean’ button and some memory should be freed. You can also view the processes and check out which process is consuming lot of CPU and memory.
Thirdly, you can also try deleting some unwanted photos, music and apps.
Lastly, if you still feel your iPod is slow then your last resort is to restore the firmware. You can restore a firmware by pressing Shift + Restore in iTunes.
