I have also found this does not work, in the case fo getting windows 7 out of audit mode permantantly that is when you reboot. I deleted the image state value, I even chaned it to the IMAGE_STATE_COMPLETE like in my vista install (is it different for win 7?) and even though that changed the bianry value automatically to it made no difference.
I can get it out of audit mode by selecting Enter system out of box exeperience (OOBE) but i dont want it to do that.
IS it possible to get it out o audit mode with reg hacks now or has something changed with SP1

We have tried to remove audit mode in windows 7 as per your instructions and it has not worked. Still get the box coming up at start up, saying running in audit mode. Any ideas what else we can try?

@Dennis, right click ImageState and choose modify. Then delete the value data and you should be good.

For me, I had to disable this to install google chrome, but it didn't require a restart. Just deleted the value, installed, and put the value back in :)
