How to Open .vob Files

I’m pretty sure that you have come across .VOB files. If you saw it for the first time then you might have tried hard to figure out “How to Open .vob Files?” In this post I’ll explain what are .vob files and how they are opened.

What are .VOB Files?

A VOB file can contain video, audio, subtitle and menu contents multiplexed together into a stream form. VOB is based on MPEG-2 Program stream format, but with additional limitations and specifications in the private streams. So, in short it’s a video file which is found in DVDs.

A VOB file includes subtitles within itself unlike other formats like.avi. If you want to get subtitles in an .avi file then you need to place a separate .srt file in the folder where the .avi file is situated. But, this isn’t needed it .VOB files.

How to Open .VOB Files?

You can open VOB files with various programs. For Windows, Linux and Mac users, VLC Player is a great choice. In addition to this I recommend to install KLite Codec Package for Windows users.
