How to Password Protect a Pen Drive Partition

Nowadays protecting data is really essential especially when we carry confidential or private data in pen drives. Few pen drives come with data protection utilities but I remember one of my friend who had a tough time using such a utility. It was a 8GB Kingston Data Traveller II, it came along with a software which allows you to lock certain part of the data and makes it non writable. He had password protected 6GB and later he deleted the software accidently. The worst part was it wasn’t available even on the official website. The only alternative was to format the drive in Linux. It’s always safe to keep a backup of the software in your pc.

Well, such utilities might sometimes be a pain but there’s one utility- Rohos Mini Drive which is pretty cool. Rohos Mini Drive is a freeware that allows you to create an encrypted partition on the USB flash drive memory. The best part is that the encrypted partition is also hidden! Whenever you plug in the pen drive in any computer only the non encrypted and non hidden partition will appear. The protected partition will appear only after you enter the right password. There’s one serious con, you cannot encrypt a partition of more than 2 GB!
