How to Open .flac Files

Ever came across .flac files? I’m sure you might have. Well, if you haven’t then .flac file format stand for Free Lossless Audio Codec. It is a file format for lossless audio data compression. During compression, FLAC does not lose quality from the audio stream, as lossy compression formats such as MP3, AAC, and Vorbis do.

Pros of .flac formats:

• FLAC’s free and open source, hence its supported by many softwares.
• It reduces bandwidth and storage requirements without sacrificing the integrity of the audio source.
• It has support for tagging, cover art and fast seeking.

Cons:

• FLAC playback support in portable audio devices and dedicated audio systems is limited at present.

MacAmp Lite X
Play
Songbird

I personally use the VLC media player with K-Lite codec package, it plays nearly every format I come across.
