How to Fix GTA IV PC Version
3. Better FPS and graphics:
Here’s a short tutorial which will enable you to run GTA IV with better frame rates and better graphics even on higher resolution. Just follow the below instructions carefully:
Start GTA IV
Now go to configure graphics and set the resolution to 800×600. You can also set other sliders according to you wish but make sure the numbers telling you the VRAM you have left are GREEN.
It’s time to do a little math now. Just divide the first number by the second one, you should get something like 0.5, 0.8.., etc. Make a note of it.
Save the settings and exit the game
Create a text file called commandline.txt in the same directory where you have GTAIV.exe
Add the following in the file:
-width 1680 -height 1050 -availablevidmem (type the noted figure over here without brackets)
You can replace the resolution to whatever you like.
That’s it, now run the game and enter the config screen. Make sure you DON’T TOUCH ANYTHING. When you try to exit the config screen the game will glitch and won’t let you, the resolution should read 800×600 But it should be clear that it’s not, it’s bigger. Now you’re certain that the hack has worked.
Now you need to quit the game however you can, (Ctrl + Alt + Del)
Relaunch the game and play with it, voila you have better graphics and better frames too. The only drawback is that you won’t be able to fiddle with the graphic options again.
