How to Resize a Partition in Vista without Losing Data

Windows Vista has an awesome inbuilt feature which allows us to resize a partition without losing any data. In previous versions of windows it wasn’t possible without the use of a software such as Partition magic but in vista you don’t need a software to do the job, you can get it done using the Disk Management tool. Here’s how you do it:
Go to Start then right click on Computer and select Manage.

In the left panel expand the Storage section and select Disk Management. This will show the details of all the drives.

Right click on the partition you want to resize, now choose either “shrink” or “expand” to change the partition size.

I had my HDD split into 3 and with progressive updates my C drive has been slowly filled with nothing but vista core files (somehow over 26GB).

After shrinking superfluous space off another volume will I be able to then reassign that space to the C drive?
