These days we are getting to see a lot of solar powered gadgets, here’s another one- a solar powered portable media player from eMotion- EM-SOL1GIG. The eMtion EM-SOL1GIG is pretty big in size if we compare to other media players. It is about five inches long and an inch thick! It weighs about 300 grams. Oh boy! That’s too close to half a kg. Don’t even think of carrying this thing in your jeans!

So how do you charge this thing? You gotta open the player like a notebook, where you’ll find a pair of solar panels. Just keep them open in sunlight and they’ll start charging. The player’s lithium-ion battery will get charged in just 2-3 hours which is more than enough for 15 hours of music playback.

The player is capable of playing MP3, WMA, and WAV, AVI and MPEG-4 video files. It has a 3.5-inch display and a 320-by-240-pixel. The best part is that this player comes with a game emulator that’ll run NES, GameBoy, and Sega game ROMs. In addition to this it also has a TXT file reader, photo viewer and a LED flashlight.
The eMotion EM-SOL1GIG is priced at $149. Sadly this model is capable of storing only 1GB of data. A 4GB version will be out soon for around $185. Check out the company’s website- Mediastreet for more details.
