After a month I finally realized the best positions where I should place the ads. It is a bit difficult to find out the best places for placing your ads. Well I’m certainly not a great expert in guiding you to make money from ads, but I would like to share a few tips that helped me a lot. I feel the following would be of great help in earning more and increasing your CTR:
1. Use a single 336×280 block inside posts:
The 336*280 ads are considered to be the best paying ad format by most of the bloggers. You can place a single ad box of 336*280 format just below the post title. The title of the ad should be of the same color as your text link color in the post. The text of the ad and the link of the ad should be of the same color as your remaining text in the post.
2. Use of Auction ads:
You can place an auction ad of 120*240 size right next to the adsense block of 336*280. Choose the heading of the color same as the heading of the adsense block color. This will increase your CTR, but the problem is that the clicks that you would get on the adsense block might get diverted to the auction ads block.
3. Text links:
You can use text links at in a post and place it at the bottom of the post. The color of the text links must be the same as that of the text color in the post. I have placed a Text link box of 468×15 size at the end of the post.
4. Avoid ads inside posts on homepage:
As far as possible try to avoid placing of ads inside posts on your homepage, because it will drive away a lot of traffic especially for bloggers as they receive less hits on home page and more inside posts. When visitors come to your homepage they might feel that your site is overcrowded with ads and may not come back to your site again. This way you will lose lot of unique visitors. Moreover you will also destroy the look of your site by adding many ads on your homepage.
5. Leaderboards and Banners:
You can place a leaderboard of size 728*90 or a banner of size 468*60 on the top or bottom of your site. I have placed a 468*60 banner in the footer. It is better if you select only image ads instead of selecting both. This will add a flashy look to the site.
6. Vertical banner:
In case you want more ads to be placed on homepage then you do so by placing a vertical banner of 160*600 or 120*240 in the sidebar. The CTR on these ads won’t be high as compared to those ads inside individual posts. I have placed a widgetbucks block instead of an adsense block in the left hand side, but placing an adsense block is more advisable.
