How To Create Your Own WordPress Blog

I would like to guide you in creating your own blog. Well it’s certainly not possible to be really brief, I’ll try to summarize though. Many of youll might want to set up your own blog but don’t really know how to start.

You need to know some basic codes like HTML codes, BB codes, etc. These are commonly used in blogs. It’s very important to know image codes and link codes. These two form an important part. You can learn some basic HTML, BB codes on http://www.w3schools.com/ . There are many ways to set up you blog:

Method1:

This method is quite suitable for noobs who would like to start a blog but without good coding knowledge. If you would like to set up your blog without any domain like, .com, .info, .org, etc; then you can be a member of the few sites which offer pre installed blog for you. All you need to do is to register with the required address which is suitable for you. Some of the sites are: www.blogspot.com, www.typead.com, www.wordpress.com, etc.

Method2:

This method requires a hosting (free or paid). In this method you need to get a hosting either paid or free hosting. Make sure they have Mysql enabled. You can find some free ones below:

You can also get paid ones like Godaddy, etc. They’ll cost a bit for you but they seem to be great. You can get a domain name from them as well. It will cost you between 5$-8$ for a .com.

Once you get a good hosting Setup you MySql username and password. Then you just have to upload the wordpress files. Then install them using install.php file. You can follow step by step instructions here. The five minute installation is a popular one.

Here’s the quick version of the instructions, for those that are already comfortable with performing such installations. More detailed instructions follow.
Download and unzip the WordPress package, if you haven’t already.
Create a database for WordPress on your web server, as well as a MySQL user who has all privileges for accessing and modifying it.
Rename the wp-config-sample.php file to wp-config.php.
Open wp-config.php in your favorite text editor and fill in your database details.
Place the WordPress files in the desired location on your web server:
If you want to integrate WordPress into the root of your domain (e.g. http://example.com/), move or upload all contents of the unzipped WordPress directory (but excluding the directory itself) into the root directory of your web server.
If you want to have your WordPress installation in its own subdirectory on your web site (e.g. http://example.com/blog/), rename the directory wordpress to the name you’d like the subdirectory to have and move or upload it to your web server. For example if you want the WordPress installation in a subdirectory called “blog”, you should rename the directory called “wordpress” to “blog” and upload it to the root directory of your web server.

Hint: If your FTP transfer is too slow read how to avoid FTPing at : Step 1: Download and Extract.
Run the WordPress installation script by accessing wp-admin/install.php in your favorite web browser.
If you installed WordPress in the root directory, you should visit: http://example.com/wp-admin/install.php
If you installed WordPress in its own subdirectory called blog, for example, you should visit: http://example.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php

That’s it! WordPress should now be installed.

You can also ask wordpress to install it for you if you don’t know how to.
